Sixth Form Teaching & Learning Overview 

Post-16 study at The Park Academies Trust is very much about independent learning but that does not mean you won’t have access to support when you need it.

You will have access to an experienced tutor / academic mentor, dedicated teaching staff and sixth form pastoral advisor.

A tutor / academic mentor will be assigned to students to support, advise and guide each student through the demands of the post-16 curriculum. This support structure will be available to you whenever you need it and we will offer guidance in a wide range of sixth form-related issues.

The quality of provision is continually evaluated by both the staff and students, giving honest feedback on all aspects of the curriculum and the additional activities and events that we offer you.

Supervised Study

The supervised study time offers you a chance to organise your own work and to study in the sixth form. You will find that the more efficiently you use this time, the better your eventual level of success will be and you will take less work home. To help you to use this time effectively, the sixth form provides a number of areas to study. Each student has an allocated hour of study per week for each subject studied. This is on top of the standard 5 hours of teacher contact time per week, per subject.

Students should organise their time so as to balance their non-contact time between completion of homework, assignments or research using sixth form facilities and relaxing or socialising. If a high proportion of non-contact time is used to socialise, then more work will need to be taken home for evenings/weekends.
